Project Manager

Essential duties of this role include:

  • Manages projects from original concept through final implementation.
  • Identifies resource requirements. Leads and directs high-priority, highly technical projects requiring multi-level, cross-functional resourcing and frequent executive interaction.
  • Anticipates, solicits, and mitigates project risks.
  • Effectively communicates both verbal and written project status to all stakeholder levels.
  • Communicates project issues as they arise; develops and administers appropriate resolution plans.
  • Regularly reviews project deliverables and helps to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Develops and maintains project schedules to ensure timely completion of the project.
  • Manages financial aspects of the project via development and monitoring of a project budget.
  • May attend executive committee meetings and provides project status updates as required.
  • Develops and updates project dashboards; develops and issues executive status reports.
  • Leads project retrospectives following each project; develops remediation plan.
  • Works with cross-functional stakeholder team to develop portfolio roadmap.
  • Develops new project management processes or updates existing processes as needed.
  • Trains and mentors less-senior project managers in such areas as leadership, methodology, tools, people skills, and politics.
  • Identifies training needs for project managers; recommends related training as required.
  • Helps hire and/or place project managers.
  • Turns troubled projects around as needed.
  • Consistently prioritizes project management process improvement.
  • Supervise a team of business analysts and junior-level project managers.
  • Successful candidates must have the following:

    • Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to stakeholders at all levels.
    • Ability to successfully ensure collaboration across multiple functions, departments and levels of the organization
    • Must possess understanding of the software development life cycle.
    • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, or 5 or more years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years in a Project Manager role within an information technology and/or software engineering organization.
    • Experience developing and delivering a project management office or project management center of excellence, including relevant processes and tools.
    • Experience working directly with internal and/or external customers and vendors.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a project management role, including demonstrated success delivering technical projects on time on within budget.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing and maintaining project schedules and deliverables
    • Experience facilitating meetings and presenting to executive committees as well as all stakeholders
    • Experience with resource planning experience including allocation of resources and tracking of status
